NEW YORK - Jan. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Remote Lands, Inc., the world’s leading ultra-luxe Asia travel designer, has launched a brand new luxury travel itinerary which takes travellers on a voyage of contrasts to both North and South Korea.

The itinerary – A Tale of Two Koreas: From South to North – is the first time the company has offered its clients the chance to take in both countries on the same trip. Travellers will begin in South Korea where they will explore Seoul, Busan, Jeju and the capital of the ancient Shillin Kingdom, Gyeongju. It is not possible to cross the border into North Korea, so guests will fly to Beijing and then onto Pyongyang, the starting point for six days in the ‘Hermit Kingdom’ of North Korea.

The highlight of the trip is visiting the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the most heavily militarized border in the world, from both South Korea and North Korea (DPRK).  Catherine Heald, Remote Lands’ co-founder and CEO, described the DMZ experience as “mindblowing” to see the differences between the two sides in terms of the soldiers, the architecture and conflicting points of view toward the Korean War.

Despite its daunting and secretive reputation, North Korea has been open to foreign tourists for several years and Remote Lands has arranged memorable trips for many clients to the country. The recent high-profile visit of basketball star Dennis Rodman, and the opening of its first ski resort, have helped generate greater awareness of and interest in North Korea as a tourism destination for 2014.

Jay Tindall, Remote Lands’ co-founder and COO, has made several visits to North Korea in the last few years. “North Korea is a truly unique country” he says. “For clients seeking a genuinely surreal, eye-opening and unforgettable holiday, one that very few people get to experience, it is unbeatable. Combining it with a visit to South Korea, one of Asia’s most underrated tourist destinations, provides some amazing contrasts and allows visitors to observe the divergent paths the two nations have experienced.”
