Craftsman-Style Garage Plans Now Available At Behm Design

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Jan. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- The Arts and Crafts movement in the early 20th century brought an explosion of new residential design  trends in the expanding suburban areas of many American cities, especially in the West. The "bungalow" style influenced the smaller, low profile homes with crafted wood roof brackets to support the broad overhangs and columned porches and verandhas. As homes got larger, steeper roof slopes with shed roof or gabled dormers of wide proportions became iconic elements of Craftsman-Style design. Leaded glass windows added details outside and inside the homes. Lots of wood crafted, expressive details were built into the design. Textural combinations of siding materials were carried over from the earlier, Victorian era. Garages were brought into the style as automobiles became increasingly popular in those suburbs.
