By: GN solids Control 1.Treatment by Shale Shakers (see 1 in drawing) Shale shaker is the 1st step of separation. Liquid mud will pass through the screens and then falls into a mud tank for next step treatment, while the larger particles of drilling cuttings stays on top of screens, then fall off the screen, and collected. 2. Treatment by Hydrocyclones (see 2 in drawing) This step includes hydrocyclones called Desander (with cones of 10 inch) and Desilter(with cones of 4 inch), and also Mud Cleaner which is Desander or Desilter or both of them on top, with shale shaker on the bottom. Hydrocyclones treat the mud from shale shaker, and the smaller particles discharged by them are also collected. 3. Vertical Cutting Dryer or Hi-G Shaker (see 4 in drawing) Via screw conveyor (also called auger), the collected drilling cuttings discharged by last 2 steps are transported to next machine. In case of WBM, this machine is always Hi-G Shaker, while with OBM or SBM, for this step a Vertical Cutting Dryer is required. During this step treating, the mud coating on the collected cuttings can be separated out. After treated by GNCD Vertical Cutting Dryer, the OOC can reach 3-5%. 4.Big Bowl Decanter Centrifuge (see 9 in drawing) The mud saved from cuttings is transported by a centrifuge feeding pump or screw pump to a big bowl centrifuge. For the in the mud there is still some fine particles, a big bowl centrifuge is necessary. After treated by centrifuge, the mud can return to mud system for reuse.
