Follow on Google News | ![]() Los Angeles County approves online bloodborne pathogens training for body art practitionersTattoo artists, piercers, and permanent cosmetics technicians working in Los Angeles can now meet the requirement for annual BBP training by taking an online course offered by the Body Art Training Group.
This course also complies with the initial and annual bloodborne pathogens training requirements of Cal/OSHA and the Safe Body Art Act. After successful completion of this course, a Certificate of Completion can be printed. "Los Angeles County Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Training" is a narrated course that has five sections: Cal/OSHA; Pathogens and Communicable Diseases; Chain of Infection; Exposure Control Plans; and Methods of Compliance. This is the first online BBP course that has been approved by the County of Los Angeles Body Art Program. About the Body Art Training Group The Body Art Training Group's online bloodborne pathogens classes have been approved or recognized by many California counties, the State of Alaska Board of Barbers and Hairdressers, the State of Hawaii Department of Health, the Iowa Department of Public Health, the Kansas Board of Cosmetology, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, the Mississippi State Department of Health, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, the Oregon Health Licensing Agency, the Washington State Department of Licensing, the Denver Department of Environmental Health, and the American Electrology Association. In 2013, the Body Art Training Group created Easy Wizard™. This is an online app that helps a body art shop owner quickly create a shop safety plan that satisfies the requirements of both OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and local regulations. The plan includes an Exposure Control and Infection Prevention Plan (ECIPP) and an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
