Snowed-in today? Ask The Strategist Blog Offers Tips to Stay Productive

WASHINGTON - Jan. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- For many employees, being snowed-in is a hindrance to the normal workday. Competing demands, including shoveling snow, picking up the children from school, and the everyday tasks that usually get done after work or on the weekends can disrupt work-related productivity.

The popular blog, Ask The Strategist, offers five tips for staying productive while snowed-in: Play first, then work; prioritize your day; give yourself a break; stay connected; and, establish a routine and stick with it.

“The weather, or more important, our perception about precipitation and its impact on our lives often causes us to become frustrated. When we are dealing with the normal resulting issues, like figuring out how to entertain the kids while we work, we need to step back and create a plan that addresses all of our responsibilities,” says Kesi Stribling, business and career consultant. She also runs Ask The Strategist, and regularly blogs for the site.

Workers have a tendency to deny themselves the opportunity to marvel at or enjoy the weather, something the child within often longs for, according to Stribling’s post. The answer, in her first tip, is to enjoy the weather before getting down to the business of work. In the second strategy (give yourself a break), she opines that when employees are snowed-in, it is healthy and productive to take routine respites throughout the day, including having lunch, to break the monotony and inspire ideas.
