In adapting it for film, screenwriter Steve Curliss has written a touching story of a lost soul that interweaves dance, love and life struggles. Burn The Floor Founder and Producer Harley Medcalf is thrilled with the project. “I have always dreamed of the show finding its way to movie theaters and I couldn’t be happier with the way the project has evolved and kept the integrity of ballroom dance intact," comments Medcalf. "When I first approached Harley with the idea of creating a film around the show”, says Curliss who also is producing on the project, “he instantly took to the idea. He did have strict stipulations that the film had to have the same quality of dance and musical performance that audiences expect when they go to see Burn The Floor.” So to make sure we held up that end of the deal, we brought on Jason Gilkison, the Burn The Floor Director and Choreographer and who is arguably one of the best ballroom choreographers in the world today.” Executive Producer Gayle Dickie is President of Red Global Media and Entertainment and Hey Girl Entertainment. Her credits include: Producer, Writer, TV & Film Company - 20+ years in the business of television, film, syndication, distribution, animation, toy licensing, marketing, packaging and producing while providing exclusive services to various clients and independent studios worldwide. Currently Gayle is forming strategic alliances to finance and distribute branded content for global markets including China, Malaysia, India, Canada and the U.S. Her feature film, "Bet & Flo" is currently in development and slated for production in 2014. In Light Of The Dance exhibits all the elements of the ballroom community-the elegance of the Viennese Waltz, the exuberance of love, the intensity of the Paso Doble and the innocence of friendships that soar into relationships.
