MEET OUR GUEST SPEAKER
Maria Bohle, CCH, RSHom (NA), ACACN, DHM, DCN. Maria Bohle has been Director of The British Institute of Homeopathy, USA office since 2001. She began her career with the Institute as a tutor in 1995 and enjoys “…training tomorrow’s alternative medical practitioners.”

Prior to joining the Institute staff, Maria was in private practice as a professional homeopath where she helped adults and children deal with and overcome issues such as Post Emotional Trauma, Autoimmune disorders, and Nutritional Imbalances. Her areas of expertise include Herbology and Clinical Nutrition, in addition to Classical Homeopathy.

Maria’s education and degrees include:
• Harvard University, Westbrook University, and EMT Emergency Care and Trauma
• Homeopathic Training and Studies:
• The British Institute of Homeopathy, David Little, Massimo Mangialavori, Dr A.U. Ramakrishnan, Alize Timmerman, Frederick Schroyens, Homotoxicology
In the late 80’s Maria contracted Lyme Disease and feels homeopathic medicine was responsible saving her life. This experience gives her a unique perspective on the effectiveness of homeopathic care.

Maria T. Bohle, Director of The British Institute of Homeopathy
"As a homeopath I treat a lot of people who are diagnosed with Lyme disease. I myself had it pretty bad twice. Both times homeopathy have saved my life and helped my body return to normal functioning. With Lyme disease, as homeopaths, we must understand the mental stresses on our clients at the time they contracted the Lyme disease and that is usually a year to a year and a half before the onset of symptoms. Once one of our remedies are identified as a match for the person suffering from Lyme is found the right remedy stimulates the sick body to repair the problem. Simple, well maybe not so simple but so beautiful to watch someone improve right before your eyes."

Detecting Wellness | How the Natural Remedies of Homeopathy Could Soothe Aches and Pains
Your first visit to a homeopath is more like a visit to a psychologist than a doctor. “There is a lot of talking in the first session,” says Bohle. “Homeopaths have a ‘Sherlock Holmes’ tendency [as] they try to get to the root of your physical problem through your emotional side as well. We treat holistically, so every aspect of the patient is important.”

Homeopathy uses "the mininum dose" of diluted and succussed doses of plant, animal, or mineral substances in the form of pellets, creams, gels, or liquid. The goal remove dependence upon pharmaceuticals if possible and let the person heal naturally. We learn not to suppress symptoms, but to realize they are cues and clues to understand the need for a specific remedy.

Imagine homeopathy as part of the medical system, as an accepted rotation in medical schools, as an adjunct to counseling, psychology, and psychiatry. Once this renaissance explodes with the recognition of successful treatment, homeopathy will expand to emergency medicine, cardiology, and all fields of medicine.

When treating patients, doctors and other healthcare providers often are faced with difficult decisions and considerable uncertainty. They rely on the scientific literature, in addition to their knowledge, experience, and patient preferences, to inform their decisions. Clinical practice guidelines are statements that include recommendations intended to optimize patient care. They are informed by a systematic review of evidence and an assessment of the benefits and harms of alternative care options.

It is not possible to cover in one hour everything about Clinical Practice. Maria will be happy to answer all questions and the discussion will go where the wind takes us.

Possible topics will include taking the case and the process that works well, using miasmatic diagnosis, and understanding the totality of the case. Once the consultation has taken place, the homeopath uses the repertory to investigate symptom rubrics searching for the similimum. Finally, potency selection could be a class all by itself.

This will be your opportunity to ask questions from an expert. Go beyond the theory and understand how it is to really practice. Maria may share some of her hints and tips to guide the clinical interview in order to understand the patient.

We call homeopathy a science and an art. Let's ask Maria how she would illustrate this thought.
