Comedian Dick Smothers to speak at Broadcasters Club of Florida Luncheon February 14th

SARASOTA, Fla. - Feb. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- (Sarasota, FL)  Dick Smothers, half of one of the legendary comedy teams, will be the guest speaker at the Broadcasters Club of Florida luncheon on Friday, February 14^th at the SaraBay Golf Club in Sarasota, FL. Dick Smothers played straight man against brother Tom Smothers for more than 50 years in nightclubs, theaters and on television. The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in the late 60’s on CBS-TV became a lightning rod for political humor and commentary, so much so, that it got cancelled for its controversial material.

Dick Smothers has made Sarasota his home for the past decade and will talk about his career in show business at the luncheon.

“We're looking forward to having Dickie Smothers join us for our Valentine's Day luncheon”, said Broadcasters Club President Ray Collins. “He already asked me if the group would be kind to him since he 'cries easily.'  It should be a fun lunch!”

The Broadcasters Club of Florida luncheon meeting is open to the public. ($20 for members, $22 for non-members) The Broadcasters Club meets the second Friday each month from October through April. Socializing begins at 11:30 and lunch begins at Noon.
