Fruit flies are serious pests damaging fruit during the ripening stage forcing farmers to apply excessive amount of pesticides to protect crops during the critical harvest time. Ceranok

Ceranok is an innovative development which made it possible to control Mediterranean fruit fly effectively and practically and can be successfully utilised by both small farmers as well as organised plantations. It is a single application per season targeting both male and female insects simultaneously and without contact with the fruit resulting in 0% residue.

Zonatrac

Zonatrac is another example of the attract and kill technology with success demonstrated to protect tropical fruits such as Mango, Papaya and guava from the serious attack of Bactrocera zonata, Bactrocera invedans and Bactrocera dorsalis. It can achieve up to 97% protection without any fruit contact with pesticides.

Bio-rational pesticides derived from plant sources are another effective solution. Oxymatrine has a negligible level of toxicity to human, animals and wild life yet it can provide a very effective control against a host of insect pests such as aphids, white flies and mites. It is rapidly degradable leaving no residue behind. Recently, an Ultra-low Volume formulation of Oxymatrine (Matrixine 2.4 ULV) has been approved for aerial application to protect date palm trees from the serious pest "Dubas bug" which is affecting palm trees in many date producing countries.

Russell IPM has received the Queen's award for its success in International trade in 2011 and for Innovation in 2012. The awards were granted in recognition for the company's unique and successful efforts in combating the seriously damaging pest the Tomato borer Tuta absoluta.

Further information is available on the company's website.

Russell IPM is exhibiting this year at Fruit Logistica - Berlin within the British Pavilion in Hall 7 for further discussions.
