Unsatisfied with sitting on their God-given talent, they decided to take the next step and dedicate countless hours combining their creative juices resulting in musical euphoria. Daniel Wale whose stage name is Deebouwy is the founder who started off as a DJ, playing at various gigs on a humble scale and transitioned into rapping full-time. Based in South Africa, Hamisi Omar aka H-payne wears three different hats i.e. that of producer, rapper and singer. Can anyone say triple threat? Stanley Mzae also known as Stunna Stan is their resident rapper whose unique flow never fails to impress. His ability to effortlessly turn his thoughts into lyrical tongue twisters definitely keeps his fans yearning for more. Behind every successful man is a strong woman and Tracey Ndoti who is popularly known as Kush fills this position effortlessly delivering rhyme after rhyme as their talented female MC. Her name was affectionately given to her by her parents and it hails from Korean origins. Military Swagg Team’s music doesn’t fit under one genre as the have proven to be quite versatile although their passion definitely points to a deep love for Hip hop. They describe their music as ‘Urban Hip Hop’. As for whom they look up to in the industry, one name stands above the rest and this is local artist Kantai. This is because he burst on the scene and paved the way for Kenyan Hip Hop in their opinion. Prior to the release of their first album, Military Swagg Team released a mix tape titled Road to Riches which served the purpose of giving the public a feel of what their music was all about. Their biggest track off their sophomore mix tape was titled E-Sir’s Back, which although has Western influence, gave the Kenyan public the strong vibes that kept it close to home. This track gained popularity to the extent that various local artists proceeded to sample the beat and give different renditions of the original beat. Military Swagg’s first track off their debut album was titled Priceless and was well received. What is undoubtedly their pride and joy was the party anthem aptly titled Sheshe which basically means PARTY! This went on to become the song for the first video they shot which was a big step for them in their musical journey. ‘Luck is where preparation meets opportunity’ break for the group as they joined one of the Kenya’s largest entertainment powerhouses, Sub Sahara Entertainment and got signed. Three tracks have so far been recorded namely; Take It Down, Keep It Fresh & Give It.
