USVI Economic Health & $70 Million Budget Shortfall Key Topics for Feb. 14 St. Croix Chamber Meeting

ST. CROIX, Virgin Islands, U.S. - Feb. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- ST. CROIX, USVI - Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. will deliver the keynote address at the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on Thursday, February 13, at 7:30 a.m. at the Palms at Pelican Cove.

Governor de Jongh will underscore many of the major themes from his annual State of the Territory Address along with what he sees as the path forward in terms of advancing the economic health of the territory and the projected $70 million dollar budget shortfall this year, according to the Governor’s Director of Communications Jean P. Greaux, Jr.

Greaux added that the governor has regularly reached out to The St. Croix Chamber to address the business community following the presentation of the annual State of the Territory Address. This will be his first public discussion since delivering the address on January 27.

“The St. Croix Chamber of Commerce is honored that Governor de Jongh has, again, chosen the Chamber’s Annual Meeting as the forum to follow-up on issues raised in his State of the Territory Address,” said Chamber Board Chairman Mark Eckard, Esq.

“We look forward to hearing an update from the Governor on the advancement of various pro-business governmental initiatives and his vision for addressing the fiscal challenges facing the Government of the Virgin Islands,” Eckard added.

The Chamber of Commerce invites members and non-members to their annual meeting Thursday, February 13 at 7:30 a.m. The event will be held at The Palms at Pelican Cove.
