Star Career Academy Students Participate in Beauty Battle

PHILADELPHIA - Feb. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- AUDUBON, PA, February 14, 2014 - Star Career Academy (http://www.starcareer.edu) in Audubon, Pa. will host the inaugural “Beauty Battle” competition, which will pit students from Star’s Audubon and Philadelphia campuses in a battle for the title of Beauty Battle Champions.

The competition will take place on Friday, Feb. 21 at the Audubon campus, located at 2501 Monroe Blvd.

The competition will take the form of a fashion show, showcasing the talents of cosmetology (http://www.starcareer.edu/cosmetology-program.php) students at both Star Career Academy campuses.

Cosmetology students will do everything from hair to makeup to clothing selection to modeling in the fashion show.  Students will participate in one of two categories, fantasy or elegance, working on hair additions, smoothness of hair, proper hair placement and makeup techniques.

In addition, students will make clothing selections and are responsible for finding a model who is an active Star student.  They will design the look in advance but style hair and apply makeup the morning of the competition. Nail art will be a separate category for the competition, where students will create a storyboard and have the design completed prior to the competition.

“This event gives students the opportunity to showcase their skills, giving them a sense of accomplishment in their chosen field,” said Eric Hurrelbrink, campus director of Star Career Academy in Audubon.

Winners in each category will receive gift baskets donated from a number of vendors.
