Star Career Academy Newark Team Wins All-Star Bake Off

SYOSSET, N.Y. - April 30, 2014 - PRLog -- A team of professional pastry and baking students (http://www.starcareeracademy.com/program/professional-pastry-baking-program/) from Star Career Academy’s Newark campus proved to be at the top of the class by winning the Star Career Academy’s 2014 All-Star Bake-Off.

The competition recently took place at Star Career Academy’s Syosset Long Island campus (http://www.starcareeracademy.com/location/long-island-campus-syosset/).  The Newark New Jersey campus team was represented by chef instructor John DeSimone and professional pastry and baking students Daisy Serrano and Oneyda Galan. The Newark team claimed victory over their peers from Syossett and Philadelphia.

Each class of cooking school students (http://www.starcareeracademy.com/program/single-classes-culinary/) was given the task to create and bake four dozen cupcakes judged for originality in design, taste and uniformity and consistency. They were given two-and-a-half hours to complete the task and present their creations to a panel of judges including Star Career Academy Culinary Chair Victor McNulty, Star Career Academy Vice President of Marketing and Admissions Michele Mumma, and returning 2013 Bake Off winner from the Syosset campus Joe Senia.

“It was a close battle among the three teams,” said McNulty.  “The judges had their hands full trying to make their final decision as all three campuses presented absolutely gorgeous looking and incredibly delicious tasting cupcakes. In the end, it was the Newark New Jersey campus (http://www.starcareeracademy.com/location/newark-campus/) that walked away with the championship and bragging rights until next year.  This is a great training ground for the professional kitchens in which the students will ultimately work.”
