Follow on Google News | The 22nd Annual Kiss-a-Pig Campaign is Holding a Training Event for Contestants on February 18Sponsored by New River Auto Mall, the event will let contestants meet and learn how to raise money for the campaign.
The evening will provide an opportunity to the competing teams to meet the competition and receive training on how to raise money for the ADA campaign. They will also have the chance to meet Remi, the pig mascot of the campaign. In addition, participants will be able to take a close look at some of the exciting new vehicles from the New River Auto Mall, which will be on display in front of the hotel. Kiss-a-Pig is a regional campaign that features a competition between community leaders to raise money for the ADA. The winning team gets to kiss a pig, an animal that is honored by the American Diabetes Association as the original source of insulin. The theme of this year’s Kiss-a-Pig campaign is InstaHAM, and will target social media as a means of promoting diabetes awareness, as well as the fundraising events staged by the competing teams. Last year’s winner was the American Boar Association, a team of lawyers. Lead by Dave Smith of Brannen, Searcy and Smith, they will attempt to defend their crown against a tough field of competitors that includes: The Mad Hams, led by Larry Hodges of Radius Media Phi Pigma Kappa, comprised of leading area business women, led by Marianne Ganem Poppell Pig Dynasty, representing Statesboro/Bulloch County, led by Earl Dabbs, Jr. of Dabbs-Williams Construction Hamland, from the Effingham County School System, led by Mimi Hayesof Effingham County High School Liberty County Schools, led by Dr. Debbie Rodriguez, theAssistant Superintendent of Liberty County Schools The Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools will be conducting an internal competition among their Elementary, Middle, K-8, and High School.
