TBS-Featured Stand-Up Comedy Showcase, The Shit Show, Expands to Los Angeles

Feb. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- The Shit Show is a rowdy stand-up comedy showcase featuring top headliners and audience prizes. Founded two years ago in Chicago, The Shit Show quickly grew to be a local favorite and headlined the 2013 TBS Just for Laughs Festival. Starting March 28th, the one-of-a-kind Shit Show is expanding to Los Angeles on last Fridays of the month at The Good Nite in North Hollywood. Now, with one foot in Chicago and one in Los Angeles, The Shit Show is building a national brand.

Hosts Ever Mainard and Rasa Gierstikas founded The Shit Show because they wanted to create a space where stand-up could be fun and pressure-free. In a high-energy atmosphere, The Shit Show offers a "best joke" contest and prizes that range from free shots to Dollar Tree treasures.

“I just got tired of the same old routine at a comedy show,” says co-founder Mainard. “I wanted to create a space where the comics don’t have to bring all of the energy to the room, but rather the room is already filled with energy that comics can add to and play off of. The Shit Show focuses on the interaction between the comics and the audience to create a fun and unique comedic experience.”

When it comes to building a national presence, hosting The Shit Show in two major cities is just the beginning. “We would love to tour eventually,” Mainard says, “we’d like to hit Austin, Portland, and some cities on the East Coast. I think it would be fun to take this show on the road and make it an event that people can look forward to across the country.”

Comedians often move from Chicago to Los Angeles, but they less frequently expand their shows with them. "I’m excited to build yet another bridge between Chicago and LA," Mainard says. “It’s a great feeling to expand the reach of Chicago’s comedy scene, which is so rich and full of talent.”
