Some dogs need lots of mental stimulation, whilst others are happy to lounge around all day and watch the world roll by. In most cases, it’s not that the dog can’t be trained; it’s just that you haven’t found the right combination yet or you haven’t given it enough time. It takes 2 to 4 weeks to break an old behavior, so if you are expecting things to change overnight or in a couple of days, then you are not being fair to your dog. Unless your dog has a brain injury or medical condition that stops them from learning, chances are they are smarter than you think. If you want to win, you have to stay one step ahead of them.
