Marsden Weighing Group shortlisted by Medlink for Yorkshire & Humber Business Awards 2013

ROTHERHAM, U.K. - March 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Marsden Weighing Group, the UK’s leading manufacturer of medical weighing scales, has been shortlisted by Medilink for the Export Achievement Award 2013.

The Rotherham-based company has seen significant export growth in established European markets and the opening of new sales channels further afield, notably in the Middle East.

A critical boost has come from the launch of two market leading products.

The Marsden M-420 (http://www.marsden-weighing.co.uk/index.php/medical-scales/stand-on-scales/marsden-m-420-bt.html) and M-430 Portable Adult Weighing Scales (http://www.marsden-weighing.co.uk/index.php/medical-scales/stand-on-scales/marsden-m-430-bt.html) have added Bluetooth technology to enable the scales to send weight and BMI to either the new Marsden App or to be paired with innovative data collection devices increasingly being used in GP surgeries and hospitals to monitor the health of patients in their homes. The application of this new technology is fundamental to the Department of Health’s Three Million Lives programme which seeks to reduce visits to GPs and admissions to hospitals.

Marsden’s M-420 and M-430 scales are the UK’s first Class III Medical Scales to use Bluetooth. Managing Director, Richard Black, says that ‘Marsden has been working closely with two important providers of telehealth devices and software. Both companies are keen to add Marsden scales as peripheral devices to their systems and within a month of launch we have sold a pleasing number of Bluetooth scales, which has given an early initial payback to our considerable investment. We anticipate a fairly substantial growth in sales as increasing numbers of healthcare providers consider forward thinking ways of delivering their services in a cost effective manner.
