March 11, 2014 - PRLog -- (MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.) – Hooda Math, K-12’s leading resource for free online math games, has optimized its popular math timed tests (http://www.hoodamath.com/mobile/games/mathtimedtests.html) to work on every device.

The website recently released more than 50 free, non-Flash games that are also compatible with every device. Michael Edlavitch, Hooda Math’s founder and CEO, said adding math timed tests to the site’s mobile presence was very important.

“More schools are shifting toward 1:1 and BYOD programs, we want students to have access to free math timed tests from any device: desktop, laptop or mobile,” said Edlavitch.

Students and teachers can select a test with 25, 50 or 100 problems. Scoring is done automatically through the web app. The web app reports the percentage correct, lists incorrect answers, and tracks how long it takes them to complete the test. After a student completes his or her test, a report can be printed or emailed to a teacher or parent.

“Our students love using timed tests from Hooda Math. These tests are a great way to test knowledge and mastery as well as identify areas I can provide further support,” said Tammy Aman, a math intervention teacher at East North Street Academy in Greeneville, S.C. “To make the timed tests even more fun, we even used Hooda Math tests to host a monthly competition between classes in our Math Lab!”

The free math timed tests are available for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and mixed operations. Edlavitch said more free testing tools are in the works, including games that will offer instant reports on common core state standards proficiency to assist teachers in recording learning data on their students

“Students will be able to play engaging games that test their math skills, and teachers will be able to track exactly which areas their students need additional support to master,” said Edlavitch. “It’s a win-win situation.”

Hooda Math already has several reporting-enabled games available on the site, including Hooda’s Drive-Thru (http://hoodamath.com/mobile/games/hoodasdrivethru.html). Players man a virtual-drive thru window, using their math skills to calculate exact change for each driver. Each level has been designed to test proficiency on a specific Common Core State Standard in mathematical content.
