Follow on Google News | The 2014 Ram 1500 Wins Motor Trend Truck of the Year for Second Year in a RowThis is the first time ever Motor Trend has awarded the same brand truck two years in a row.
By: Bosak Motor http://www.bosakmotor.com/ There is a reason why this hasn’t happened before. Motor Trend’s rules for determining Truck of the Year require the vehicle has been fully redesigned or received a considerable update. Generally automakers do not offer considerable updates one year after a larger revision. If they do, the usual reason is because the first model wasn’t successful or highly flawed. Case in point: the recent Honda Civic. After the 2012 Honda Civic received scathing criticism, Honda practically redesigned the 2013 Civic and continued with extensive changes for the 2014 model. Last year’s 2013 Ram 1500 warranted inclusion thanks to new technology like an eight-speed automatic transmission and air suspension, allowing it to win the top prize. This year’s inclusion was due to a new addition to the Ram 1500: a diesel engine. Normally a new engine would not be reason enough for inclusion, but this is the first light duty pickup truck in15 years to feature a diesel engine. Not only that, but the Ram’s EcoDiesel shows off new cleaner diesel technology. Drivers were originally turned off by older diesel engine’s loud noise and high pollution. The engine in question is a 3.0L turbodiesel V6 engine producing an impressive 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. These engines can tow up to 9200 pounds and offer better fuel economy than the base V6 engine. To try out a 2014 Ram 1500 with the new diesel engine, come to Bosak Motor Sales. The dealership is located in Merrillville, Indiana at 3111 W. Lincoln Highway. They carry the full line of Ram trucks and vans along with a large selection of Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. http://www.bosakmotor.com/ End
