SBS Youth Music Festival Comes To Pasadena Assemblymember Chris Holden To Serve As Honorary Host

March 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Stephen B. Steward, festival co-founder, and long time Altadena residents, Leroy and Anna Toliver, founders of LOV Olive Branches, CDC will host the inaugural SBS Youth Music Festival Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the historic landmark Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, California, with Assemblymember Chris Holden to serve as Honorary Host of this noteworthy event.  Imani Hakim, best known for her role as Tonya Rock on the UPN/CW sitcom Everybody Hates Chris, as well as portraying Olympic gold medalist Gabrielle Douglas in The Gabby Douglas Story will serve as the Mistress of Ceremony.

Musical Performances include:  DJ Kiss, We R Remix, Malachi Cohen, Carlon Jeffery, and Na’Tasha May.  Special Celebrity Presenters include:  Amber Montana and Asia’h Epperson.

“We want to help aspiring students to get unprecedented exposure and, in the process, raise money for the youth music program,” said Stephen B. Steward, who’s heading up the event with LOV Olive Branches, CDC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

The Music Festival will also include performances by SBS Youth Talent Competition Finalists, who will have opportunity to take their act to the big stage.  Students across the U.S. between the ages of 5 – 17 were encouraged to submit a video of their talent to sing, dance, act and/or play a musical instrument.

Celebrity Judges will select the winner in each school category (Elementary, Middle, and High School). Celebrity Judges include actor, producer, director, Obba Babatunde, DawnMarie Ferrara, actress, writer, producer,Arnold Hackett, VP, Alliance and Partnership Management, Xerox, entertainment journalist and pop culture expert Jawn Murray, AlwaysAList, Aundrae Russell, KJLH Radio Personality, Keisha Sapp, Meeting Planning Services / WW Trade Shows Services / Finance, Mattel,  Semaje, Curtis Silvers, Area Director, UNCFLos Angeles, Brandon Mychal Smith, pianist, composer, Kevin Toney and Lea Woods, LAUSD.  The criteria for judging entries will include originality, stage presence, vocals, performance quality, musicianship and overall likeability.  The Grand Prize Winners of the SBS Talent Competition will receive a $1,000 Scholarship.
