BAY SHORE, N.Y. - March 21, 2014 - PRLog -- The Championships are held the week of March 24, 2014 in Harrisburg, PA and this multi-day event features competition for the ‘Best of the Best’ in Obedience, Rally, and Agility.  The nationals are a qualifying only event and the entrees that qualify are selected from across the country to compete.

Doggie U’s instructor Debbie Masino an award winning and multiple title-holder obedience instructor and her Pomeranian, Bounce will be competing in the obedience portion of the Nationals.  Bounce is one of only 4 Pomeranians in the country to qualify, showing Debbie’s tremendous dedication and training with her dog.  Debbie has been training since 1998 and an instructor at Doggie U since 2007.   And Bounce is a rescue dog who had already been in two homes before Debbie met her.  “Bounce was a spitfire, wild and out of control, she needed a ‘job’ and found that job in obedience. Overcoming a myriad of health issues, she has taken me on a journey I could only dream of,” said Debbie. “She is an amazing partner, teammate and companion. I am thankful every day that we found each other and that she loves to play this game of obedience with me!”

Competing in the Agility portion of the Nationals is Doggie U instructor Dawn Fillips with her two Border Collies, Loud who is 9 years and Guts who is 3 years old.  Teaching at Doggie U for the past 8 years, and teaching both agility for 20-years and obedience for 25-years, Dawn is a very established instructor in the field.  Both of her dogs hold multiple titles in both agility and obedience.  Even though Dawn is a seasoned instructor she said, “It is still always an honor to be selected to go to the nationals, I am very proud of my boys accomplishments!”

This year will be the first time that Rally will be at the AKC Nationals.  And Doggie U’s student Lorraine Hausch has been selected to participate in the 1st AKC Rally National Championship Trial.  Lorraine and her dog Jake, a 5 ½ year old German Short Haired Pointer, will be competing in the highest level of the Rally category.  They have been training at Doggie U for this competition under the instruction of Debbie Masino in which they were able to learn how to perform the course correctly but also have fun while doing so. “Jake loves working in Rally, his tail never stops wagging,” said Lorraine Hausch.  “He is a very happy dog and has finally found his job in Rally. I am very proud of him and can’t wait to compete in the Nationals!”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled and proud of our instructors and student and of course their dogs, for being selected to head to the Nationals.  This is a high honor and we wish them the best of luck at the competition,” said Ginny Anziani Co-Owner of Doggie U K9 Academy.  “We also welcome dog owners to stop by anytime to meet our staff and students and learn how working with your dog creates a never ending bond.  And you never know, you may be chosen to head to the nationals too!”
