Google Might Favor Encrypted Sites in Searches

SEATTLE - April 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Google is considering giving more importance to those websites in its search engine results that are using encryption. In the latest concluded SMX West conference in San Jose, California, Matt Cutts, Google's senior engineer, says that by rewarding secure websites, it will help in saving Google time whenever any security panic arises in the internet.

Strong encrypting data transmitted over the internet helps in adding a barrier between online users and anyone who wants to steal the information. Google makes use of its search algorithm to bolster and encourage different practices among web developers. Those websites which are using malicious software are penalized on search engine ranking.

“This would be a good move,” says Mr. Rahul Mishra, the SEO expert at Simpliti, India's leading SEO company. He says, encryption ensures that user's data is not used by any unauthorized person and therefore, it can't be tampered. If a website is using secure encryption software then it means, data is reaching to the correct recipient only.”

Rewarding websites that are using encryption in the algorithm would be a big step. It has been seen that more websites are encrypting their pages, however, still, only few people are encrypting parts of their pages, which means, users become vulnerable to attacks. Furthermore, hackers are trying to benefit from these vulnerabilities by capturing cookies. Though Google’s internal discussion about encryption are on a nascent stage but it is paramount to use encryption software with no exception.
