Red’s Shed Launches Kickstarter Campaign To Bring Collaborative Consumption To Denver, CO

DENVER - April 30, 2014 - PRLog -- Red’s Shed, a Denver based start-up company launched their first ever KickStarter project yesterday and have already reached 23% funding within the first 24 hours. This KickStarter project will help fund their iPhone application development to compliment their already robust website and online rental sharing community. The project features a very hilarious promotional video starring their founder, Patrick Hutchinson and several members of their team.

“We found that our beta testers wanted improved website functionality and really needed to upload items from their smartphone. So we began overhauling the website and went into development of our iPhone application.” said Patrick about the project.

The community is based around micro-targeted listings, only those users who are in close proximity of the rentee can see and rent that item. This means a user in Denver CO, will not be asked to rent their item to an out-of-state member. Red’s Shed has also introduced a groups functionality to the community; offering organizations such as schools, HOAs, churches and other groups the ability to act as circles, for their members to rent to one another. This function is extremely effective for users who do not want to share items outside of their trusted network. In return for their participation, the groups if set up, will receive 2% of the transaction fee back on transactions generated by their members. This is a great way to raise funds for nonprofits or charities and to promote great relationships within the groups.

Patrick Hutchinson initially came up with the idea for Red’s Shed, when he purchased his home. He wanted to do some remodeling and found that he was spending more time traveling to and from the home improvement store, than he was on the actual project. He also ended up purchasing many tools that only received minimal use; knowing his neighbors had these tools, but didn’t know an easy way to approach them.
