Unique “Collaborative Consumption” Start Up Wins Funding from the University of Colorado

June 21, 2014 - PRLog -- June 20, 2014 - Denver, Colo. - Red’s Shed, a Denver based collaborative consumption start up, placed as a finalist at the coveted University of Colorado– Denver sponsored Jake Jabs Center Business Plan Competition. Red’s Shed officially finished as a finalist of this competition. This competition is open to Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming based companies, which have been in business for less than 2 years and have not received any Angel or Venture Capital funding prior to the competition. This competition promoted the development of high-caliber business plans and recognizes the most outstanding plans with more than $50,000 in cash and in-kind awards from area businesses, as well as encourages the creation of new businesses.

Red’s Shed is a collaborative consumption site, which seeks to connect people who are in need of items with those that have them to lend. Think of it as the Craigslist of rental. With all kinds of tools; from saws and sanders to equipment and household goods are available for rent from their members. This community hopes to help reduce waste and increase connections among its users. The company launched in Denver in the spring of 2014 and hopes to increase its user base before launching in San Francisco in 2015.

Started by Colorado-native, Patrick Hutchinson, a CSU undergrad, DU law grad and CU-Denver MBA, Red’s Shed plans to finish development of our app as well as further refine their online rental community with this new funding.
