Local production of The Color Purple nominated for ‘Best Locally Produced Play’

INDIANAPOLIS - May 7, 2014 - PRLog -- The Cupboard Inc., a non-profit organization is pleased to announce that its stage production of Oprah Winfrey’s The Color Purple has been nominated in the top five of locally produced musicals in the city. The nomination comes as part of 2014 Best of Indy Nominations from Nuvo Newspaper.

The Cupboard Inc. wrapped up a total of nine performances in February as it helped to kick off Black History month in February.

“The show is great and with the amount of local talent that’s in this production is even better.” said Joyce Licorish in a recent interview, who also produced and starred in the show as Sophia.

The organization is currently preparing to take the show on a ten city tour beginning in August where the city of Indianapolis will be the kickoff city to the tour.

“We want to put Indianapolis on the map and all of the talent that we have. This show is too good not go on the road.” said Licorish.
