Tree Planting Day 2014 Joined by Novotel Century Hong Kong

WAN CHAI, Hong Kong - May 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Novotel Century Hong Kong had participated in the Community Planting Day on 27 April 2014. 4 staff members from the hotel have participated in this activity.

The Hong Kong Tree Planting Day organized by Friends of the Earth since 2010.  This year, there were a total of 20 participants from all Accor hotels in Hong Kong joining the activity.  It took 1 hour 30 minutes to complete the journey of 8 km route stone forest course and planted a total 30 trees at Ma On Shan Country Park where fire broke out years ago. This is particularly meaningful as the activities and philosophy of environmental protection coincide Planet 21 Day.

Friends of the Earth Hong Kong launched the Plant for the Earth project in 1993. This is a tree planting project aiming at rehabilitating burnt or degraded countryside to create woodlands in order to enhance our country parks and absorb carbon dioxide to reduce global warming effect. This project is very popular among community groups and corporations such as banks, airlines, telecommunication companies, hotels, and property developers. This is a very practical, hands-on programme with tangible results much appreciated by its participants and is good for public education.
