Funk Fest Celebrates 20th Anniversary In Atlanta

ATLANTA - May 14, 2014 - PRLog -- May 16th -17th 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of Funk Fest, the concert series makes its second stop in Atlanta to celebrate with a two-day concert. Each year the festival of classic music attracts music enthusiasts from across the U.S., the Atlanta concert will take place at the newly built Wolf Creek Amphitheater located at 3025 Merk Rd SW, College Park, GA 30349. The Atlanta Funk Fest will showcase legendary artists such as The Isley Brothers, Goodie Mob, Monica and more.

Funk Fest serves as the kick off for the spring and outdoor concert season. First up on Friday night music lovers will have the pleasure of hearing from the soulful 90s girl group S.W.V (Sistas With Voices) and stars of WEtv’s new reality show SWV Reunited singing hits like “Weak” and “Right Here”. Also hitting the stage that night will be the gentlemen from Head of State (Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant) also known as one half of iconic boy group New Edition and a rare performance by Atlanta’s own Goodie Mob. Goodie Mob recently released “Age Against the Machine” their first album in 14 years so fans can expect new music along with their favorites.

On Saturday Funk Fest brings another full line up of equally amazing acts. Guests will rock with the Isley Brothers, Monica, Musiq Soulchild, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh and EU. The legendary and influential group the Isley Brothers known for their performances and iconic hits will take guests on a musical journey filled with soul. R&B chantreuse Monica will serenade the audience with past hits such as “Angel of Mine” and fan favorites from her new album “New Life.”

Over the past 20 years concertgoers have laid out on blankets and lawn chair at venues throughout the country to enjoy the soulful music brought to them by Funk Fest. The grown n sexy crowd and couples can be seen getting out of their chairs and dancing the night away at the concert series.
