By: Dirty South TV Carly Gibson & Hannah Zale join forces to bring you an afternoon of soulful, authentic music that will be sure to have you smiling and dancing! In the music world, Carly Gibson is what you would call a triple threat: she not only composes soulful and sophisticated music, she also sings beautifully and plays a mean acoustic guitar. In addition, she is developing a substantial reputation for her skill on electric guitar, having performed a number of times as a lead guitarist with Caroline Aiken. Carly may be young but she sports an old soul; her dedication to her art is readily apparent in her performance. Carly’s music resonates with the flavors that reflect her own diverse musical tastes and influences. Rock, jazz, folk, blues, Americana, bluegrass and funk all find their place in her repertoire. She counts among her influences such songwriters as Caroline Aiken, Paula Cole, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Tori Amos, as well as guitarists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Angus Young and Michael Hedges. Carly has performed at the Athens Human Rights Festival, ATHFEST, The Crimson Moon, the North Georgia Folk Festival, The Melting Point, Pepperland Farm’s Full Moon Ball, the Cox Capitol Theatre, the El Ray Theater in LA, the Northern Rockies Folk Festival, the Sautee Nacoochee Center, and at the renowned venue, Eddie's Attic. She has had the privilege of sharing the stage with notable artists such as Jeff Sipe (Phil Lesh & Friends, Aquarium Rescue Unit), EG Kight, Caroline Aiken, Richie Jones, Ralph Roddenbery, Chris Hicks (Marshall Tucker Band), Randall Bramblett, Geoff Achison, harmonica wizard Steve Baker, Diane Durrett and Donna Hopkins. Carly has opened for Caroline Aiken, Donna Hopkins, Diane Durrett, Ralph Roddenbery, Geoff Achison, Tommy Talton, and Randall Bramblett to name a few. Carly often collaborates with fellow musician, BJ Wilbanks in the band Gibson Wilbanks. Carly’s 2010 debut EP, Heavy Water, is available through her website at carlygibson.net. Carly has studied guitar at the Atlanta Institute of Music. If you don't know who Carly Gibson is yet, you certainly will soon! Hannah Zale's unique musical style combines her classical training, love of the blues narrative, and rock n' roll attitude. The young front-woman and songwriter has recorded 2 EP's with her band Boomfox, as well as headlined The Georgia Theatre and 40 Watt Club. As a recent graduate of The University of Georgia, Hannah Zale earned degrees in Social Media Theory and Music Business and now the soulful songstress is ready to take the next step in her career as a solo artist. She has been called a combination of Hayley Williams and Michael Buble with a 90's flare. Inspired by nature, relationships, and the stressful journey to adulthood, Hannah Zale performs every lyric with love and passion. Carly & Hannah bring their signature sound and energy to the stage at Darwin's Burgers and Blues on Thursday, May 29th, in front of a live audience.
