Umniah and Announces its New Partnership with Facebook

AMMAN, Jordan - June 11, 2014 - PRLog -- In concern to the development of the information and communications technology (ICT) sector as well as keep up with the latest industrial trends, Umniah has concluded its sponsorship and participated in the 11th Convergence Summit. The event took place on June 2nd and 3rd and was held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess SumayaBintAl Hassan, the president of El Hassan Science City and the President of the Royal Scientific Society.

This year’s support compliments Umniah’s previous years of sponsorship, which saw the summit’s recognition as a regional and global platform for participants to share their ideas and experiences in the developing ICT sector.  This year’s summit saw nearly 500 ICT-specialists from more than 25 countries around the world.

During the summit, Umniah has announced its recent partnership with Facebook, a leading global online social network. The partnership is the first of its kind in Jordan and emphasizes the importance Umniah places on developing its broadband internet,instant messaging services and social networking.

The CEO of Umniah, Ihab Hinnawi have participated on the main panel as he highlighted the recent challenges in the ICT sector during 2013 and 2014 in terms of taxes and its impact on the sector, which hinders the development of networks, broadband Internet services as well as opportunities for industrial growth.

Mr. Hinnawi reiterated Umniah’s support for the conference, which was organized by the Arab Advisors Group and held every year under the title of Integration. The conference places focus on the evolution of the sector as well as the merging of telecommunication services, representing a Jordanian - Arab platform for participants to share experiences and discuss recent industrial developments.

He also highlighted the importance of entrepreneurialism for youth that has recently developed in several ways such as having increased demands to establish new businesses in various economic sectors, particularly in IT and internet industry, by young entrepreneurs who seek to curb unemployment and improve Jordan’s financial situation, in addition to providing them with the necessary finances and guidance enabling them to enter the workforce.

Young entrepreneurs became prevalent, particularly in the ICT sector, in order to find solutions to unemployment and realize their dreams. Therefore, Umniah continues to show its support through offering financial aid and guidance to these young entrepreneurs in order to help them successfully enter the market.

This year’s conference comes at a time when the industry is witnessing significant changes on a local, regional and global scale, through a growing reliance on broadband internet services, smartphone applications, visual and audio media trends, the internet, online payment methods and mobile commerce. Satellite systems also tend to have a role in providing an integrated environment, in addition to recent strategies needed to attract investors to contribute in theinfrastructural developments and the future of internet networks in the Middle East.
