Bringing Families Together Through Camping and Concerts

It's all about the Who, What, When, Where Why and How!!

WHO: We are a group of people including campground owners, musicians, sound production, event planners, media relations personal, all devoted to helping bring awareness to the value of family time using concerts at campgrounds.

WHAT: We are creating concerts using nationally reconized acts to motivate kids and parents alike. We aim to attract new campers by introducing them to the benifits of outdoor activities through the experience, bond and effect it has on the family.

WHEN: This started as a one-state, summer concert series in 2013. Now, in 2014, that simple concept has evolved into a movement centered around creating a sense of family togetherness that we are hoping to expand to more states year round.

WHERE: In 2013, the concert series was held in Wisconsin. This year "Bringing Families Together" is currently in 4 states but hoping to expand nationwide.

WHY: We hope to preserve a way of life that many of us have taken for granted from our childhood, by producing mainstream media attention to campgrounds, camping and the power of togetherness through the media's attention on concerts by national acts.

Join the movement giving a "voice" to bringing families together through an annual series of live music concerts at campgrounds throughout the United States. This mission sparked from Jared Blake, semi-finalist on season 1 of NBC's "The Voice" performing at the Wisconsin Association of Campground Owners Convention in 2013.

Blake's booking agents opened two weeks during his summer concert schedule for association members to book concerts at special rates as a "thank you" for continued support. The interested had peaked with just word of his upcoming performance at the convention, and within minutes of Jared taking the stage his management team was being asked to open more dates. Jared spent a month of his summer setting up concerts day-after-day at campgrounds throughout the state, amongst his other scheduled tour dates.

"Something amazing happened there. From day one, we learned just how important these campground owners were for the future of families making memories together. The concerts we had performed in prior years were expensive and lacked family attendance. The campground shows wound up being my favorite shows of the year, mainly because for the first time we saw families being together." Jared announced, "As a father myself, it really touched something in me to see these families just being families. We are committed to helping our partners grow these events each year."

Campgrounds and RV parks traditionally use activities both for kids, and their families, to participate in each day while on vacation. These concerts are providing an opportunity that has never been afforded to the traditional list of activities, and have a greater impact using that twist. The campground tours use a nationally-recognized performer to excite the kids, and adults alike, which has been highly effective for these experiences. The family members are able to bond over the stories told of their first concert, the opportunity to meet the performer, or even the possibility of jumping on stage.

In the inaugural year, the tour hit 15 campgrounds, and has scheduled dates for this year, spreading from Texas to New York. "The interest and growth has been substantial. One thing we have seen as a difficulty for RV park and campground owners is costs to schedule and promote the events to gain the deserved attention," states Jennifer Rachidi of The M3 Agency. "These owners have a tremendous impact in their community and giving them every dollar to reach the people and media with their message is key to the success of this mission. Through sponsors and donors, we are hoping to reach a network of individuals and companies that serve this common goal. This spawned the the idea of using Kickstarter to help fast-forward the movement, and give the ability to support all of the interested campgrounds."

"We've made great relationships in the states we have been able to reach, but we know there is so much more. This is bigger than us." Danielle Halverson, co-creator furthers,"We can't know the full impact until we take this to the top. We still hear from families after over a year that are still sharing the stories and impact of how this affected their family. We all have a strong want to keep this tour alive and keep sharing the message of family togetherness."

The movement to bring families together has brought on the support of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC). Teaming up with the leader in outdoor hospitality, and the only national association exclusively representing the interests of private RV parks and campgrounds in the U.S. with 3,100 members to present at the 2014 Convention in Knoxville, TN. The story of this movement was presented to the CAMP board, and received praise for being the first of it's kind.
