Bockweg appointed to the Florida Film and Entertainment Advisory Council

MIAMI - June 30, 2014 - PRLog -- On June 27, Florida Governor Rick Scott appointed Pieter A. Bockweg, executive director of the Miami Omni and Midtown Community Redevelopment Agencies to the Florida Film and Entertainment Advisory Council.

Created by the Florida Legislature in 1999, the Florida Film and Entertainment Advisory Council consists of 17 members and serves as an advisory body to the Department of Economic Opportunity and to the Florida Office of Film and Entertainment. The advisory board provides these offices with industry insight and expertise related to developing, marketing, promoting, and providing service to Florida's entertainment industry.

Bockweg serves as the Executive Director of Miami’s Omni and Midtown Community Redevelopment Agencies. Under Bockweg’s leadership, the two agencies, with a combined budget of more than $30 million, seek to improve the two redevelopment areas by creating employment opportunities, attracting new businesses and addressing slum and blight conditions.

Bockweg recently led the Omni CRA in its contract negotiations for the creation of the Miami Entertainment Complex, a major film and television studio located at 50 NW 14^th St. in Miami’s Media and Entertainment District, just west of the Arsht Performing Arts Center.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a Minor in Communications from Rollins College and a Master in Business Administration focusing on Management, International Business and Marketing from Crummer Graduate School of Business.
