On Foot Holidays relaunches unusual Bohemia route in the Czech Republic

July 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Independent walking specialist On Foot Holidays has reintroduced its self-guided walk to the pretty countryside of the northern Czech Republic. The diverse six-night itinerary takes in the bucolic ‘Bohemian Paradise’ region, which offers an exhilarating mix of extraordinary rock formations, cool pine forests and fairytale chateaux and castles.

Walkers will test their shimmying skills up ladders and through narrow rock passageways, enjoy a two-night stay at the grand Chateau Hruba Skala, and discover a fascinating microcosm of rural life in central Europe. There will be time to visit two historic, and very photogenic, castles – Kost, a well-preserved 14^th century fortress complete with torture chamber, and Trosky, with its distinctive twin towers that sit atop volcanic peaks.

In the evening, sample Moravian wines, regional herbal liqueur and of course the excellent beer for which the Czech Republic is renowned. Local restaurants offer hearty fare at very reasonable prices.

This is On Foot Holidays’ most family-friendly route – the castles and curious rock towns will beguile young walkers, and the congenial hoteliers can provide family rooms. Most of the walking is easy, with only the odd steep climb tipping it into the medium-grade category.

It is possible to spend a couple of nights in the historic capital of Prague at the end of the walk for a supplement of £40 pp per night.
