By: Long Island Pet Professionals, LLC “Hosting this event, working with fellow North Fork pet professionals and giving back to the community is something I wanted to do since taking over the store in late April of this year,” stated Kimberly Loper, new owner of Harbor Pet. “Our Grand Re-Opening Celebration is a great way for dog owners to meet other dog owners and pet experts in the area, maybe even adopt a new four-legged family member and have a great time while also giving back at the same time!” The weekend will kickoff on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10am with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Harbor Pet. Greenport Village officials, adoptable dogs from the North Fork Animal Welfare League (NFWAL), leading pet industry professionals and of course Kim Loper and her family and friends will be on hand for the ceremony. During the day on Friday, NFWAL adoptable dogs will be there to meet until 2pm, and dogs and their owners are invited to celebrate from 3pm to 5pm for a furbulous ‘Yappy Hour!’ Pet parents can have their pup’s portrait drawn by the very talented pet portrait Linda Ozelis, $15 per portrait. Refreshments will be served for the humans and canines alike. Dogs and their owners can mix and mingle during the event! On Saturday, doors open at 10am and from 12pm to 2pm owners can ‘Ask the Trainer’ from North Fork School of Dogs any of their doggie training dilemmas! From 3pm – 5pm owners can get their pet’s pictures taken by none other than the North Fork’s very own professional pet photographer, The Puparazzi aka Judy McCleery! Pictures are $10 per dog and will be printed on sight for owners to bring home. Dress your dog up for the photo or have your dog’s picture taken in the Kissing Booth! Additionally on Saturday during the 3pm - 5pm hours there will also be a Yappy Hour, refreshments for humans, dogs can sample of Life is Grruff treats and owners can bring their pet in his or her best ‘yachting’ During the 3-day long celebration there will also be free samples of various pet foods, raffle baskets to take a chance on.
