The Wilbur Dubbed as One of the Top Theatres in World

BOSTON - July 25, 2014 - PRLog -- The Wilbur, Boston, Massachusetts’s premier music and comedy venue located in the historic Theatre District, recently landed the number 35 spot on Pollstar’s 2014 Mid-Year Top 100 Theatre Venues, released on July 14th, 2014. The list’s ranking system is based on the theatre’s worldwide ticket sales per year. Perhaps even more notable is that The Wilbur jumps to Pollstar’s 25 spot when excluding international venues, dubbing the theatre as the 25th Theatre Venue in the country.

The Wilbur was built in 1914 by the Shubert Brothers who named it for their friend and theatre manager A.L. Wilbur. Over its 100-year history, The Wilbur has hosted many pre-Broadway world premiers, among them "Our Town," "A Streetcar Named Desire," "The Miracle Worker," and "Long Day's Journey Into Night."
