BELTON, Texas - Aug. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Trails of Hope @ Miller Springs: 10k | 5k Trail Races

On September 27th, Hope for the Hungry along with the Miller Springs Alliance will be host the second Trails of Hope @ Miller Springs. This race is open to all runners and avid walkers. This event will be held at Miller Springs Park & Natures Center in Temple, TX. Following the success of the five mile trail race last September, the two local non-profits organizations once again are teaming up to host another great community event. This year, the Trails of Hope @ Miller Springs will offer two trail races, a 10k and 5k. Pre-registration is now open and highly encouraged. All who pre-register before September 15th will be guaranteed an awesome dry-fit tech t-shirt.

The Miller Springs Nature Center is a 260-acre scenic natural area located between the Leon River and 40 foot high bluffs, immediately east of the Lake Belton Dam. The natural preserve is open to the self-guided public, at no charge, each day of the year, from dawn to dusk. Following the 1992 flood,of Lake Belton all of the development below the dam was inundated and damaged, and the park required numerous improvements.  The Miller Springs Alliance rallied community support to restore and improve trail access and preserve park lands. The flooding also created a geologic window, in the new canyon where the floodwaters carved limestone below the spillway. The Miller Springs Nature Center is managed by the Miller Springs Alliance, a local non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation, whose purpose is to promote conservation and management of natural and cultural resources, and to provide an educational and recreational nature area at Miller Springs Park. The Miller Springs Alliance has managed and kept the park open since the flood of 1992.

Hope for the Hungry is an interdenominational missions ministry established in 1982 in response to the needs of thousands of children dying every day due to malnutrition and preventable diseases. Our passion and purpose is to “Share the Bread of Life with a Starving World”.  We seek to relieve the spiritual and physical poverty of the poorest of the poor both at home and across the globe. This means that we work diligently to help provide the spiritual, physical, and educational foundation needed, to help break the cycle of generational poverty. We have been serving in Haiti throughout our 30 years of existence and currently support over 800 children in three schools and two children's homes. We have also grown to serve a network of missionaries and ministries in over 17 different nations, including the United States sharing the love of Jesus through agriculture, church planting, discipleship, education, emergency relief, evangelism, microenterprise, outreach and trafficking causes.
