Hometown NBA Basketball Great hosts the annual Day in the Park

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Aug. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- — Once again, it is time to hear the pitter patter of little feet-running to its Annual Travis Outlaw Day. This day was created after the city of Starkville declared August 23, 2005 as “Travis Outlaw Day”. This day was proclaimed because of Outlaw’s accomplishments as a professional NBA player after being drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in 2003. To show his love and gratitude to the community who has supported him from the beginning he hosts “A Day in the Park”-where he gives back to his community with fun, food and wholesome activities. This event marks Outlaw’s 10^thyear having this grand celebration.

The event will take place on Saturday August 23, 2014 from 10 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at McKee Park.  The event is free for everyone. The first 200 people to show at the event will get a Travis Outlaw Day T-Shirt. The day consists of free food, prize giveaways and an abundance of activities for the whole family! There will be plenty of activities for children and adults alike. Big Ballers, Shot Callers with a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, Free Throw and 3 Point Shoot Out being held at the Travis Outlaw Center located at 405 Lynn Lane Starkville, MS with cash prizes for the winners…what more could you ask for? Get a team of five (5) and compete in the Flag Football contest...claim your turf! If you have some serious SKILLS on the GRILL…then enter the BBQ Cook Off contest, no entry fee required. The judges for this year will be prominent citizens of The Golden Triangle area! If any of these are in the area of your expertise, then you could be a winner. And if you have skills that don’t fit the above, become a contestant for the Starkville Talent Showcase on Friday August 22^nd at 8 p.m. at the Travis Outlaw Center. Winner will receive a CASH PRIZE. If you thought the day couldn’t get any better-this year Travis is giving two (2) $1,000 scholarships to the winner of the Travis Outlaw Day Scholarship Contest.
