Novotel Century Hong Kong Proudly Supports Orbis Hong Kong

WAN CHAI, Hong Kong - Sept. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- The Mid-autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the Lunar Month. It is one of the most important festivals in Chinese tradition. At Novotel Century Hong Kong, this festival is widely celebrated every year. Distributing moon cakes to employees has become the traditional staff benefit. This year the hotel has come up with something special to celebrate the Mid-autumn.

Accor, the world’s leading hotel operator, launches the 3 years Corporate Social Responsibility program – Stay for Brightness with ORBIS this year. The three-year program has several targets including:

l   Regular ophthalmology 30 paediatric eye doctors to receive regular ophthalmology training

l   Affordable, high-quality treatment to 30,000 within their communities

l   Early eye care to 300,000 children in rural areas

As one of the brand within Accor group, Novotel Century Hong Kong highly supports Accor’s CSR program by purchasing moon cakes for staff members this year. The amount for purchasing moon cakes for the employees of Novotel Century Hong Kong is donated to ORBIS Hong Kong for charity purpose. It helps ORBIS Hong Kong for the prevention and treatment of blindness worldwide especially for the children. A total of 230 boxes of Orbis mooncakes were purchased, it is equivalent to $9200 of donation to support Orbis.

The ORBIS moon cake is made by low-sugar lotus seed paste and is healthier than the traditional recipe.

Novotel Century Hong Kong is committed to serve the community.  The Blood Donation Day is one of the charity actions followed by a range of community activities: the Christmas party for children from single parent families (2002) and Douce France in Hong Kong (2003), Charity Christmas Buffet for senior citizens (2003- 2013), Tree Planting Day (2010-2013), Christmas Donation to Chi Heng Foundation (2010-2013), Coins Donation to Chi Heng Foundation (2009) and Donation to YMCA (2014).
