Follow on Google News | Local Businessman Brings Four World Champions to Ride in Inaugural Bull Mania$50,000 plus purse will bring bull riding's finest to Conroe, Texas
Rookie sensation and recently crowned CBR World Champion Sage Steele Kimzey will face three former CBR World Champions, Cole Echols, Josh Barentine, and 2012 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Champ of the World, Cody Teel, as they ride for the richest purse in the history of a regular season CBR event. To win the 50,000 plus purse the rider will have to make the whistle on three bulls and have the highest score in the final Shoot Out Round. This is only the second time in the history of the CBR that the monies from a previous event were not won and the prize money rolled forward to the next event. No one made the 8 second whistle in the final round on August 28 in Huron, South Dakota so that prize money will be added to the prize money available in Conroe, making it the richest one day event in the regular CBR season. “If you like high energy, live action, 8 seconds at a time then the Conroe CBR is for you," said CBR chief Benny Cude. “We are excited to bring this caliber of bull riding to Conroe," continued Cude who resides locally. Cude is more than just the chief executive officer, he is the reigning owner of the 2014 Bucking Bull of the Year, Penny Lover who will be featured on October 4th in the Shoot Out round and he is owner of the recently crowned World Champion Bull Team of the CBR, an award won at Cheyenne Frontier Days in July. Tickets are now on sale as Championship Bull Riding (CBR) makes Conroe the second stop on the televised “Road to Cheyenne” tour. South Texas fans will have two opportunities to see world class competitors in action followed by a concert featuring Texas recording artist Cody Bryan. In addition to bull riders battling for the $50,000 purse and an early lead in the world standings race, bred-to-buck animal athletes will take center stage in the morning featuring the future four-legged stars of the CBR competing for the title of World Champion Futurity Bull Team. Twenty teams of three bulls each have qualified and will arrive from all corners of the country in an attempt to win a total of $135,000 in prize money and the elite “world champion” title for two year old bucking bulls. The Conroe Texas Bull Mania presented by Bud Light will be held on October 4th at 8 PM at the Lonestar Expo Center. Saturday night’s lineup will follow the revolutionary CBR 8 Second Format featuring a tournament style of competition. The action gets underway at 8 p.m. with the top 24 bull riders in the world doing their best to stay on for eight seconds in round one so they can advance to the semifinals. The 12 top scores get to ride in the semifinals with the best four advancing to a Shoot Out round where the bulk of $30,000 in prize money is paid. Four time World Champion Tuff Hedeman, reigning World Champions Sage Kimzey, Houston’s own Neil Holmes, the 2014 CBR Finals Champion, and local stock contractor and World Champion Bull Team owner available for in studio interviews upon request.
