Follow on Google News | Speaker, Author, Life-Coach Dawn Diaz to Sing the National Anthem on September 11thBy: Rescue Coaching LLC. The park, located on the border of Astoria and East Elmhurst, in New York City, was officially dedicated in 2007; and has since been the annual gathering site for friends, family, and fellow Fire, Police and EMS workers, from near and far; to honor the memory and celebrate the life of Carlos R Lillo, an FDNY Paramedic who perished at The World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001. This year the ceremony will commence with the Star Spangled Banner performed by Dawn Diaz, who prior to becoming a Motivational Speaker and Community Advocate, served 22 years as a Paramedic Captain for the New York City Fire Department. Carlos Lillo was a beloved son, husband and friend, who dedicated, and lost his life, "So others may live..."; which is the motto and creed of the rescue and emergency services profession. In the thirteen years since the tragic events of 9/11, an Annual Golf Outing and Paramedic Scholarship has been set up in Lillo's name to provide Emergency Medical Services training to youth who have a calling to become Paramedics. This invitation to the The Annual Carlos R. Lillo wreath laying ceremony, goes out the to the public and to members of the press at large. As the phrase "Never Forget" conveys, we want to ensure that new generations and new citizens can learn about and remember the individual stories, and the contributions made by heroes like Carlos Lillo, and all the other rescuers who lost their lives on that day.
