Follow on Google News | Coming-of-age Romance Novel to be released on October 1, 2014‘Chasing Lightning’ received high praise from both readers and other LGBT authors. Sandra Bernhard described it as ‘sexy and fun’, and Rita Mae Brown said: ‘Lightning strikes twice in this novel… when you read it and when you think about it later!’ It tells the story of a young woman, Scarlett Turner, who lives in the small town of Dillinger, Pennsylvania, and can’t wait to go to college and leave everything behind. Scarlett hasn’t had much luck in love, so she is dreaming of the moment when she’ll be on her own, free to live her life the way she wants. She is sure that if she achieves fame and money, then she’ll feel safe and she’ll be able to forget her painful past. But Scarlett’s life is turned upside down when seductive Gina Jamison steals her heart and shows her what true love feels like. Gina is the one who sets Scarlett on her journey of self-discovery. Their relationship doesn’t last long because the two young women are forced to part ways. However, Scarlett knows that no one else will be able to replace Gina in her heart, no matter how many lovers she’ll have. Once she leaves her town, Scarlett leaves her fears and insecurities behind, travels the world, meets new people, and discovers who she really is. She hopes that one day she will see Gina again. Rachel York created two complex, well-developed characters with unique personalities. While Scarlett is well-grounded, yet sometimes romantic and dreamy, Gina is like a force of nature: strong, sexy, confident. Readers will find it easy to relate to both of them, and they will want to see them together in the end. However, the world the author created is also very realistic, which means that things don’t always happen as we want them to. ‘Chasing Lightning’ will be available on Amazon and other book retailers starting October 1, 2014.
