Follow on Google News | Yohan Lee shines in the TheaterAlthough he is a success film actor in both Asia and the U.S., Yohan Lee still has a special place for the theater in his heart.
By: Actor Yohan Lee While Yohan has worked in film, his all-time favorite character in his career thus far has been Barney in the theatre production of Che Walker’s Been So Long, directed by Oscar-winner Milton Justice. “Through Barney I really learned how to ‘live’ in a character to the fullest capacity,” Yohan explained, “and in the end I felt I truly had become him.” As a lead role in the production, Barney is the owner of a fancy bar that is on the verge of closure. He muses about his patronage and how there are “winners' bars and losers' bars.” While most of his clientele may be ‘losers,’ two of them - who swore off love forever - might just end up winning something they thought they had lost. Theatre is an area in which Yohan’s talent comes to life before the audience’s eyes. In Wild Honey, directed by Bruce Katzman, Yohan takes the spotlight in the role as Dr. Triletsky, the local doctor. Wild Honey was originally written by Anton Chekhov under the title of Platonov and was adapted by British playwright Michael Frayn. The director, Katzman, is best known for his work as an actor, particularly in the 2006 blockbuster The Gridiron Gang. Yohan Lee shines in the light of the stage, as well as that of the screen. Some of his past films include Comfort Girls, A Phone Call, Road to Utah, Runaway Dream and many more. Audiences around the world can see Lee’s diverse range upon the release of State of Desolation, a horror film set to premier in 2015. In addition to acting in film and theatre productions, Yohan studied acting and filmmaking at Trinity Western University in Canada. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, he plans to continue building his career as an actor in the States while also participating in international projects. He explains, “I love both cultures and it is important for me to be able to participate in roles and projects that come from both the East and the West.” End
