AMD Opens Headquarters to Welcome South Florida Hospital & Healthcare Association

MIRAMAR, Fla. - Sept. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Wanting to ensure the SFHHA was welcomed with open arms, AMD played host to the SFHHA by hosting its kickoff meeting at their new Miramar headquarters.

The panel topic was “Patient Portals: Choice, Quality, and Convenience.” Patient portals give secure online access to 24-hour health care information. With a username and password, patients can view information from recent doctor visits, discharge summaries, medications, and  immunizations. They can also request prescription refills, schedule appointments, and exchange emails with their healthcare teams. Patient portals are basically revolutionizing the way healthcare industry interacts with patients.

Charles Felix, owner and publisher of the South Florida Hospital News and Healthcare Report, served as the facilitator for this discussion. The takeaway from the panelists was the need for patient-focused messaging to increase their use of these portals. Panelists included: Jason Shavelson - Manager at Web & Software Development of Miami Children’s Hospital, and Shannon Lavett - Regional Vice President of MedSeek Enterprise Patient Portals.

The discussion topic generated an exchange of ideas from participants across the healthcare spectrum, including Broward Health, Delray Medical Center, FIU Physicians Group, Larkin Community Hospital, Memorial Healthcare System, Miami Children's Hospital, and MCCI Medical Group.
