They were risqué, cutting edge entertainment, vicariously read in private. Today they are perceived somewhat differently.
The immediate reaction is how innocent we must have been. Surely these naughty tales didn't titillate us, or or our parents - did they? Each of them is compelling, beautifully written, causing us to smile in delight as, for example, Mike’s enthusiasm for the idea of a wife swapping party (a cornucopia of similar topics is discussed) palls under his wife Cynthia's remorseless examination of the actual facts. Notes for Editors About Mike George Sussex-born Mike George has led a colourful life as an advertising exec, soldier and Middle East mercenary. He sold Spanish properties and worked in journalism. He has done walkabout in Oz, sailed the Aegean Islands and trained staff at the Bahrain Institute of Banking & Finance, where learning of Mike’s appointment a friend was heard to remark: “Mike George in banking? That’s like Pol Pot running the Brownies.” Twice widowed, currently he lives with his partner in Eastbourne, staving off senility and prolapsed kneecaps, while croaking off-key grand opera in the bath, awash on a pain-numbing sea of export-strength Plymouth gin.
