Follow on Google News | Perth & Kinross Provost to Open Macmillan Cycletta ScotlandBy: Volpa Photos & Interview Opportunities with: Charline Joiner, Cat Cubie and Charlie Guest Councillor Liz Grant, Provost of Perth & Kinross will open Scotland’s Macmillan Cycletta, the UK’s leading cycling series especially for women, this Sunday (5th October) morning in the stunning and historic grounds of Scone Palace in Perthshire. The event series, which is backed by, series ambassador and Olympian, Victoria Pendleton CBE, and will be led by Commonwealth Games cyclist Charline Joiner, TV personality Cat Cubie and British slalom skier Charlie Guest, proves there’s no shortage of girl power behind the pedals. The event has attracted over 600 participants to take part. Commenting on the event, the Provost said: “I am delighted to open Macmillan Cycletta Scotland and to welcome it back to Perthshire. Perth & Kinross has a long history of leading the field when it comes to world class sporting events. Just days ago we played host to The Ryder Cup in 2014, the greatest match in the world.” “It is simply amazing to know that so many ladies will be travelling from around Scotland this Sunday to take to Perthshire’s roads on two wheels and I very much look forward to cheering them all on from the start line. It is such a lovely way to keep fit and to stay healthy.” Commenting, Nick Rusling, CEO of event organisers Human Race, said: “We’re now counting down the hours to this year’s Macmillan Cycletta event in Scotland and I’m delighted that the Provost will formally open the event for a second year running. We expect over 600 ladies to cross the start line on Sunday morning and so far the signs are that the Autumnal Scottish weather will be kind to us.” Macmillan Cycletta Scotland is open to ladies aged 12 and upwards (although under 16s require adult accompaniment) For those ladies wanting to set themselves a bigger challenge there is a Classic distance of 40 km and, for those who want to push themselves that little bit further, a Challenge distance of 63km and the all new, and hugely popular Macmillan Cycletta 100km.
