Buffalo Dreams Film Fest To Host Gala Premiere For 'the Romans'

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Oct. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The feature film was directed by Korey Green, who co-wrote the screenplay with producer Larry Quinn.  A contemporary urban interpretation of the Julius Caesar tragedy, The Romans was filmed entirely in Buffalo with Broadway and Hollywood Star Stephen McKinley Henderson (Lincoln, Porgy and Bess) , Jon Abrahams (Meet the Parents, Boston Public) and a cast of locals including Byron Brown, Jr., Jon Cesar, Deja Stevens and Tony Littles.  A longer version of the film won Best Film and Best Director at the San Diego Black Film Festival in February.  The Buffalo Dreams event will be the first time the film is seen by a Buffalo audience, and the first time it is seen in its final form including music and score by former Rick James musical director Kenny Watkins.  A Q & A with key members of the creative team follows the premiere.

"This is a coup for us," says Buffalo Dreams co-director Gregory Lamberson.  "The Romans is a Buffalo film with real production value, and this premiere demonstrates that horror films only comprise a portion of our programming.  From our inception we've supported local films of all genres, and The Romans is a genuine example of what Buffalo's film community can do.  We're proud to present this significant entry in our city's growing film legacy."

Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival is devoted to bringing the finest independent science fiction, fantasy, horror and action films from around the world to Buffalo, and to spotlighting the work of the most talented filmmakers in Western New York.  The festival received over 250 film submissions this year, and a list of all selections will be announced soon.  An awards ceremony will be held at the theater on Sunday, November 9th.  Admission for all screenings is $9.00, and advance tickets will be available through the Dipson Theatres website in late October.  The Eastern Hills Cinema is located in the Eastern Hills Mall, 4545 Transit Road in Williamsville.
