PERTH, Scotland - Oct. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery in Crieff is toasting being shortlisted for two awards at Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky Awards. Scotland’s oldest and most visited distillery will battle it out against some high calibre competition featuring many of Scotland’s other top distilleries.

Securing nominations for Whisky Visitor Attraction and Whisky Visitor Attraction Manager for The Famous Grouse Experience’s General Manager Stuart Cassells, the team will have a nail biting wait to find out if they have made the final cut. Members of the public can vote by visiting www.iconsofwhisky.com and the distillery will be hoping that its tens of thousands of annual visitors will get behind the nominations.

It has been an exciting year for Scotland’s most popular Distillery. The Famous Grouse Experience recently completed a £250,000 investment in its key visitor areas and café. The refurbishment programme, which was the first major upgrade to the facilities since 2007, was officially opened at the end of May by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, whose visit received international media coverage, projecting the visitor’s event facilities across the globe.

Their efforts to welcome the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Strathearn were recognised by the events industry with a Commendation for Best In House Event for hosting the Royal Visit, at the recent Scottish Event Awards in Glasgow.

Lesley Williamson, Business Development Manager at The Famous Grouse Experience, said:

“It is great news to be shortlisted for these two Icons of Whisky awards so quickly after finding out we’d received a Commendation for Best In House Event at the Scottish Event Awards earlier this week. We know we have a world-class venue that is enjoyed by so many people every year and everyone here at The Famous Grouse Experience is delighted that our visitor attraction is being recognised. We are also thrilled for Stuart being nominated and will have our fingers crossed for a winning result.”

Voting closes on 22nd October. To vote for The Famous Grouse Experience in Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky awards, visit www.iconsofwhisky.com
