New Integration with Chef Gives Opsview Users Exceptional Automation Capabilities

By: Opsview Limited

READING, U.K. - Oct. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Opsview, the leading unified services monitoring vendor, today announced the integration of Chef with Opsview Enterprise.

Chef is a powerful automation platform that transforms complex infrastructure into code, bringing servers and services to life. Whether your business is operating in the cloud, on premise, or a hybrid, Chef automates how applications are configured, deployed, and managed across any network, no matter its size.

Chef is built around simple concepts: achieving desired state centralized modelling of IT infrastructure and resource primitives that serve as building blocks. These concepts enable you to quickly manage any infrastructure with Chef.

The newly introduced Chef integration is a result of high demand from Opsview users over the last few years, and has been developed alongside one of the fastest growing companies in the world, NewVoiceMedia, a recent customer of Opsview.

With this integration, users can now take full advantage of the powerful automation that Chef provides, alongside the scalable and feature rich Opsview - allowing users to deploy and configure their systems within Chef, and have their changes automatically reflected within Opsview. This integration will give Chef and Opsview users terrific automation capabilities.

Opsview automatically uses Chef as the ‘source of truth’ about nodes and their configuration, preventing configuration divergence between the two platforms. Chef also leverages Opsview’s powerful REST API which is available out of the box – no additional software needs to be installed on the Opsview server. This in turn saves time by avoiding the need for much slower manual data entry and validation.

Neil Ferguson, Opsview’s Head of Customer Success announced: “With businesses increasingly turning to automation to be able to deal with the high rate of change within their infrastructure, Opsview’s Chef integration could not have come at a better time. Efficiency improvements like this allow staff to focus more on their core responsibilities and less on maintaining their monitoring system.”
