By: Carlisle Events The inductions take place November 10, 2014 at the Hilton in Harrisburg and will be part of the 11th annual Business of the Year Awards black-tie event. In addition to the Millers, multiple other inductees will have honors bestowed upon them. Aside from the Hall of Fame, recognitions include the Cliff Jones Award, Emerging Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year and three different Business of the Year categories. Each inductee or honoree is part of the Central Pennsylvania community and has long been a pillar of success. Founded in 1974, Carlisle Events was the brainchild of Bill and Chip Miller following their dismissal from another automotive event in the region. Instead of taking the eviction personally, the Millers decided to start their own venture. After searching for a venue that could accommodate their vision and with a few hundred dollars from each for a deposit, the Millers settled on the Carlisle Fairgrounds as home base. The rest, as it’s said, is history! Over the years, Carlisle Events has welcomed millions of guests to the grounds and into the Carlisle community. Further, events at the fairgrounds generate nearly $100 million annually for the local economy and offer hundreds of part-time/seasonal jobs. Because of these facts and many more, it’s obvious to see why the Millers were chosen for this special honor. “When you want to know what is going on in the business community you reach for the Central Penn Business Journal,” said Bill Miller. “To be selected for induction into the Central Penn Business Journal’s Hall of Fame is truly a great honor,” continued Miller. “Chip Miller and I turned a hobby into a business and 40 years later our sons are involved. I hope they continue it for 40 more years in one of America’s greatest hobbies, the collector car world.” The Business of the Year Awards, presented by Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney, PC, is a program of the Central Penn Business Journal. Additional sponsors of the event include: Capital BlueCross, Comcast Business, M&T Bank, McKonly & Asbury, LLP and FGV Media.
