Follow on Google News | Stepinac High School to Host First-of-Its-Kind Medical Symposium for Students On Nov. 14All-Day Session, Limited to Only 30 High School Students From throughout Region, Will Explore Career Opportunities In the Expanding Medicine and Healthcare Sectors
By: Archbishop Stepinac High School The all-day session, which will be limited to 30 high school students from throughout the Westchester and New York metro region, will explore professional career opportunities in the expanding fields of medicine and healthcare. It will be held from 9 AM to 5 PM at Stepinac, 950 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains. Topics will include: Careers in Medicine, Medical Ethics, Level of Patient Care, Patient Evaluation and Diagnosis, Public Health, Emergency Medicine, Medical Research, and Epidemiology. The program will provide students with real medical research case studies and enable them to participate in simulations. The symposium facilitator is Todd D. Stroberg, R.N. BSN of the Cornell University Research Unit of the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College. Founded in 1986, the Research Unit conducts high-quality clinical research and the dissemination of critical research results. Landmark studies result in effective therapies for the treatment and prevention of opportunistic infections. Mr. Stroberg, whose career in health care spans two decades and includes emergency medicine, critical care, geriatric and neurology and 12 years in clinical and pharmacology university research, said:. “I am particularly excited to share my insights and knowledge with high school students who are interested in the fields of medicine and healthcare.” The cost of the symposium is $200 and includes lunch and materials. Students will also be eligible to qualify for an internship with the Cornell University Research Unit following their participation in the symposium.
