The Columbus International Film and Video Festival, now in its 62nd year, is the longest running film festival in the United States. Through the years, the festival has honored thousands of films, filmmakers, and producers. The Chris Award — our top honor (a reference to Christopher Columbus) — is proudly displayed in production offices around the world. The Chris Award has also been a qualifying festival for the Academy Awards.

Veltri’s film ‘Words to Remember’ examines the heart wrenching pearls of wisdom that would be passed down to us if our future selves could share their reflections and regrets with us in the present moment. For the present moment, is the only moment that can truly make the difference in our lives. If people lived life with the end in mind, they would find the nouns that matter most are not places or things, but, human beings. It is only through the hearts and minds we touch, through the peaks and valleys of joy and pain, that any evidence of our existence will remain.

Written and directed by Pasquale Marco Veltri, Words to Remember (http://www.pmveltri.com/#/words-to-remember/) stars, Naimesh Nanavaty, Virginia O'Hara, Michael Mcleister, Jasmine Sawant and Candi Zell. Veltri’s film is a continuation of his overall theatrical theme of trajectory of reflection, self-identification and his overall passion to understand the human condition. With an original score by composer Vikas Kohli, the music draws inspiration from the multicultural aspects of the film and fuses a classical string quartet with a traditional Indian bowed instrument known as the Taus.

The Chris Statuettes will be presented to Pasquale Marco Veltri at the 62nd Annual Awards Ceremony,Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Columbus College of Art & Design.  An Evening of Shorts  Words to Remember screens At Brothers Drake Meadery, Tuesday, November 18 2014 at 8:00 p.m. (Brothers Drake Meadery 26 East 5th Avenue Columbus, OH). Pasquale Marco Veltri will be in attendance to receive his award.

“My work has been an attempt to create stories with a mosaic of cultural backgrounds that accurately represent the Canadian experience. With my most recent film ‘Words to Remember’, I presented the wisdom elders would pass down to us if we listened to their words. In making the film, I decided to represent the backgrounds and cultures I grew up in by making a film that was presented in several different languages (Hindi, Gurtahi, English and French). The mixing of different languages helped to enforce the universal themes of family life and living in the moment. Through this process, I gained a strong appreciation for proper representation of the diversity in my films,” says Pasquale Marco Veltri.
